A pantograph is a system of articulated arms mounted on the roof of locomotives, designed to transfer power from overhead contact lines to the electric traction unit. It unfolds and extends along a vertical axis, collecting current through contact strips mounted on the pantograph head. The number and type of contact strips vary based on the current intensity and catenary conditions.
